I propose the following definition:
A planet is…
1) In orbit around a central stellar group.
2) Maintains a permanent atmosphere.
3) Maintains permanent orbital status with proximity to the local stellar group.

If it orbits a planet (w or w/o an atmosphere), it’s a moon.
If it orbits a star but has no atmosphere, it’s an asteroid (Mercury?).
If it leaves proximity of the local solar system, it could be a comet or some other defined body (proto-planet?).

(Nibiru is NOT a planet since it has left proximity of the local stellar group.)
